Adri lives on the outskirts of Nelspruit and leads Magnificent Kids, an organisation that helps children improve their reading skills. She has 2 grown daughters, a grandchild on the way, and recently the Lord blessed her with a lovely man and 2 beautiful children who became part of her family.

Adri first heard about Sinani at CU Mbombela. She shared, “I have always had a lot of compassion for children. When I first heard about Sinani, I knew immediately that I wanted to get involved.”

She began volunteering in 2024 but could not go often at first. Over the past 3 months she has been visiting every second week. “Now the Lord has added to the volunteering team through my new family and church members joining hands with us.”

When Adri first joined she simply spent time playing with the children and reading stories. “I even wrote a storybook just for them the first time I went.” Now she helps with homework at the Elandshoek site and soon hopes to offer a Super Study Skills course for the high school students.

Serving has touched her deeply. Speaking about the recent play the children performed in, she said, “I wanted to burst with pride knowing they are not just some kids out there, but they are my kids.”

One moment that marked her early days with Sinani came during homework time. “One of the girls came to me and started talking about challenges she was facing. Immediately we connected and I realised she trusted me.” Over time more children began opening up and even asking about the new man in her life. “It was so amazing to see that these kids are also looking out for me and want the best for me just as I want for them.”

Adri says the greatest lesson God has taught her is humility. “I sat back watching some of the older kids help the younger ones and I stood amazed realising I am not needed here.” Seeing her passion for education rub off on them has humbled her. “Without even realising it, skills have been developed and disciples have been made.”

Her encouragement is simple. “You do not need any special skills to make a difference. All you need is love, compassion and a willingness to serve.”
