Like A Dream Come True

Canoeing the longest river of the Netherlands… In August something remarkable happened. In order to raise money for Sinani, a man in Holland canoed the longest river of the Netherlands: De Linge. The river being 108km, took Dutchman Dirk Zwart 3 days to canoe. In cooperation with his niece and Sinani’s newest intern, Fleur Hasebos, he raised funds for Sinani. This couple hoped to raise some money from close friends and family members, however, they took a chance and sent in their story to a few local newspapers in the hope that one of them might print their project. Not only did their story and picture end up in more than 6 local newspapers, they were featured on local radio more than once and appeared on local television! The response was overwhelming. They raised over 10x what they had initially hoped for.

Dirk had a dream to canoe down the Linge River for quite some time, but he did not want to do it without a certain purpose. When he heard his niece was going back to South Africa to intern with Sinani, they combined their strengths and set up this project called ‘Zwart kanoot voor Afrika’. Both the canoe trip for Dirk, as well as raising money for Sinani were an amazing success. They look forward to blessing Sinani with their support.
