The community of Oshoek faces many challenges which increase the vulnerability of children. A lack of access to suitable health care, unemployment, lack of food security, prostitution and teenage pregnancy are all contributing factors. In June 2019, the local Hands at Work team in Oshoek held a two-day youth camp for several of the youth from the communities in the Oshoek area, to share the dangers of these community strongholds and to create a space where the youth feel safe, comfortable and free to share any burdens that they are facing. The hope for the youth is that they will gain a deeper understanding of God’s love and feel empowered to take ownership of some activities happening at their Care Points.
Sinani’s involvement with Bambanani CBO is unique in that it partners with Hands at Work, who has a full time team that supports Bambanani on a daily basis. Church Unlimited, through the Sinani channel, helps financially support this community based organization as well as visits to community throughout the year to encourage the care workers and the community.
